This is the first week since July 24th that I have not complained about the New York Mets. I haven't tweeted once about Wilson Ramos inability to catch, run or hit. I have only tweeted once about Edwin Diaz blowing a save, which is well below season average and I have only had to tweet once about the Mets not scoring enough runs for Jacob deGrom and costing him a win. This is all because the Mets have not lost a baseball game in a week and no it does not matter if they only played 3 games due to the coronoavirus because they were against the once first place Marlins.
There is nothing more Mets and nothing more 2020 than having to postpone a series against your cross-town rivals when they are struggling and the Mets are hot, due to the corona-virus. The only thing that would make this more Mets would be finding out a few weeks from now that these test were false positives. That would really be a buzzkill. The Mets have had trouble hitting a groove in 2020 and of course as soon as they start to figure it out the team gets infected.
Kudos to the Mets, who are not typically the model franchise, in containing the virus amoungst the team and preventing an outbreak. That in itself is a championship type effort. One of the few championship efforts the Mets have given in franchise history.
Only sitting a few games out of first place and a half game out of the 2nd wildcard spot, the Mets are somehow still in position to make the playoffs, but then again who isn't still in contention with the amount of teams getting in the playoffs this year. This upcoming series against the Marlins is going to be the one that either makes of breaks the entire season. If the Mets can take this series and have some momentum going into the Subway Series this upcoming weekend, the Metropolitans can spring board into a playoffs spot with the season almost halfway completed. Realistically though they will manage to finish 1 game out of a playoff spot, while giving us fans hope all along the way. Another season of blue balls for the fans of the orange and blue coming in hot, as is tradition. Ya Gotta Believe.
